Spending the Weekend in Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a charming city. With its cobblestone streets and Gothic architecture, it’s an excellent place for a weekend away if you find yourself in Scotland.

Rich in beauty and history, Edinburgh and its people are a real delight. Let’s look at some of the main attractions to check out in the capital of Scotland on your next trip.

The Royal Mile

This long, historic street is the primary thoroughfare in the Old City and is full of buskers, tourists snapping pictures and great spots to eat. It will also get you to and from many of the main attractions on foot.

St. Giles Cathedral

Also referred to as the High Kirk of Scotland, St. Giles Cathedral is found between the Castle and the Palace and is the perfect representation of the Gothic architecture we mentioned earlier. It is open seven days a week, and you can get a guided rooftop tour to learn about it while you visit.

The Mackenzie Poltergeist

If you enjoy ghost tours, you’ll love Edinburgh as it is one of the most haunted cities in the world! Sir George Mackenzie had many religious dissidents killed and rumour has it his vengeful spirit still terrorises the area. You can learn all about it on one of the many haunted walking tours around the city.

Edinburgh Castle

If you are a history or architecture buff, then you can’t go past Edinburgh Castle. One of the main tourist attractions in Scotland, it’s open daily from 9:30-6pm and it’s not to be missed if you’re in Edinburgh.

The Scott Memorial

This gothic tower is the second tallest monument to a writer in the world. It was created for Sir Walter Scott, a novelist, playwright, and historian (famous for Rob Roy). You can also get a great view of the city from the top of this little stair climb.

The Elephant House

Fans of Harry Potter will probably already know that this is the cafe where J.K Rowling wrote the books, and now this cafe is always brimming with people heading there to take pictures and soak in the vibe that inspired a phenomenon.

Edinburgh has a lot to offer, but if you’re short on time then this list will ensure you still get to see the top attractions and tourist sites. Marvel at the stunning scenery, electric atmosphere and enjoy the many photo opportunities thanks to the architecture.

The Joy of Being Naked

People are born naked. There should be no shame in loving yourself and embracing the way you are born into the earth.

After the time of Adam and Eve, using clothes has been the norm. We cover up and we use clothing as a part of our lifestyle. But still, there is nudism.

What is Nudism?

If you check on Wikipedia, this is how they would describe nudism or naturism:

“Naturism, or nudism, is a cultural movement practising, advocating, and defending personal and social nudity, most but not all of which takes place on private property. The term also refers to a lifestyle based on personal, family, or social nudity. Naturism may be practiced individually, within a familial or social context, or in public.”

Looking at this definition, it still seems a lot to take. When simply put naturism is just the way people perform communal nudity by being in harmony with nature and promoting self-respect, for others, and that of the environment.

Yes, it is understandable to love to wear clothes but there is also nothing wrong with the belief in nudism that connects us to nature. Being stripped off your clothes doesn’t mean to be bad. It is all about having the confidence and the enjoyment of being naked. Whether it be alone or with others, you can get naked without feeling guilty or judged about it.

Many people are against nudity but it all depends on the intent. It is not appropriate if you associate nudity with something dirty. But if you like being nude because you believe you are as one with nature, then by all means go.

As long as you know your reason for doing so and you respect and value the environment and yourself, there is nothing wrong with believing in nudism. If others find joy by being naked, let them be. It is their lives to live and what matters is they are not harming other people or the environment.

Best Places To See When Visiting Vietnam

Visiting Vietnam soon? We have created some of the best places to go and do for you:

Visit Ho Chi Min City Museum

Ho Chi Minh City has not forgotten completely the conflict that was made during the Vietnam War. Although 60 per cent of the population in the country was born after the end of the war, the nation has not moved on completely as they have created the Ho Chi Minh City Museum and The War Remnants Museum.

The museum has many information and exhibitions regarding the country’s bloody past that includes memorabilia, artefacts and photographs. A presentation done considerately, without hyping the atrocities that happened during the war.

The War Remnants Museums is more gruesome, but also provides an important reminder of the atrocities that happened. In the museum you will find, first-person accounts by war veterans, eerie bomb remnants, photographs of terrifying napalm burns and bloodied guillotine.

Visit Tay Ninh

A visit to Tay Ninh and you will find the Holy See of the Cao Dai religion.

Caodaism is the country’s hybrid religion that was founded in the 1920s. A fusion of Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism, occult and Islam with the final goal is to be free from the cycle of life and death. The tower of the temple look similar to a parochial church. However, if you see it closer, you will find an eclectic façade with sword-brandishing gods, a Communist red star, swastikas, and an Orwellian all-seeing eye.

It is common to see people praying four times a day and one time at noon.
The sacred experience at the temple is something tourists would want to see and feel.
